  • Subject : You are as keen as mustard about the work. A: You are as keen as mustard about the work. B: That’s for your praise. I am glad to hear that. 第二,地道表达as keen as mustard1. 解词释义As keen as mustard中的mustard的意思是“强烈的兴趣”。 In his early years, he was as keen as mustard about basketball. e.g. McNamara are not as keen as mustard about the assignment. e.g. She was as keen as the mustard about bird-watching since she moved to London.
A: I bumped into Mary last night at a club. She was alone. She was obviously blitzed out. B: She must have known something Jack has done. A: I don’t know. But she must have been bits and pieces. B: She is one of those unfortunate woman. He must blitzed out and his explanations were repetitive. e.g. He blitzed out and broke a beer bottle and got into as fight. e.g. I think the drink must blitzed out, he doesnt usually sing in public. I tried to avoid her, but it was just my luck to bump into her. e.g. Actually, lets just this little bit where youve made them bump into each other. e.g. Joanna heard him bump into the table and curse again. e.g. My car ran bump into the wall. I always have a lot of bits and pieces in my coat pocket. e.g. I must look out some bits and pieces for the church jumble sale. e.g. He sat down on a bench, unceremoniously, doggedly, like a man who was bits and pieces. e.g. He often thought of his girlfriend who had left him and he was bits and pieces. She must have known something Jack has done.【要点1】此句中运用了情态动词的虚拟语气,谓语是must have known something Jack has done。 主句是she must have known something,从句是Jack has done,从句省略了引导词that。 She must have been bits and pieces. /201507/386684。
看下面例句: --Do you think your brother will be successful?(你觉得你弟弟会成功吗?) --When pigs fly he will.(猴年马月吧。) 误译: Various deceptive means are hardly preventive.正译: Various deceptive means are hardly preventable. 英语可以译为to sway或to flicker。 The tight rope walker continuously swayed on the thin wire at a great height.2. The oil-lamp flickered on and off.“忽悠”的第二个意思原为东北方言,相当于“愚弄”、“糊弄”或“捉弄”,具有诙谐、生动的意味。英语最好不译为to deceive或to cheat这样普通的动词,而译为to jerk sb around,to hoodwink,to bamboozle等俚语说法,更能表达出“忽悠”的细微含义。 Dont jerk me around!I wont be taken in. 4. The investor was hoodwinked into buying junk stocks.5. I was bamboozled into signing the irrational contract. /201301/223234。
